GONE : Whitefriars Glass Sky Blue 9864 Dimple vase

I am leaving the original post here, this was donated years ago, it's the slowest blog update in history!

Whitefriars Glass pattern 9864, "dimpled" vase in the highly sought after and vibrant Sky Blue, Full Lead Crystal, colour. Only made for a short period from 1979 to 1980 in this colour. This vase might not be the most instantly recognisable Whitefriars design, but it is certainly an interesting and scarce one.

In excellent, undamaged condition, with only slight wear to the base.

Open to sensible offers, cash on collection, P&P via Royal Mail Special Delivery only, at cost, to UK buyers. If you are outside the UK I can obtain a shipping quotation, but this will only be via courier and with full insurance.

If you have any additional questions, please use the "Click to email me link" at the bottom of this blog.

Whitefriars Soda Glass, pattern 9593

In 1962 the Whitefriars factory introduced their soda glass range with many new designs and three new colours, Midnight Blue, Amethyst & Shadow Green. Due to the nature of hand made items such as these, the thickness of the glass varies considerably, and this can make colour identification quite tricky. One of the most pleasing and more unusual shapes was the rather ecclesiastically shaped pattern 9593 chalice, and this photo depicts the three colours rather well.

The lightweight soda glass used is very delicate and prone to scratches, but on the flip side, watermarks are easily removed with a solution of water and vinegar, and the use of magic balls (small copper balls), placed into the vase with the water/vinegar and swirled around. This trio from my personal collection are in 1st class condition, certainly for their 45+ years they are doing better than me for signs of wear!

Whitefriars for sale or trade, and Wanted's

Here is a list of items we have for sale/trade, with a Wanted list below. We have more glass than space to display it and we hate to think of it sitting in boxes and would rather it was able to be appreciated properly.

We will be attending the Cambridge Glass Fair in Feb 2009, bringing a small brood to help out with the Whitefriars Duck display, and dependent on how much interest (how much space left in the car), we are happy to bring along items which people are interested in buying/swapping. Much of this is currently boxed so please do email us using the link below, and we will find, photograph and email details (including any imperfections found) and answer any questions.

Suffice to say, apart from a little box dust, from memory all these items are in excellent condition and have normal, or less than, shelf wear. Of course you can appraise them yourself at Cambridge under no obligation. We are realists, any sensible offer considered.
